Location Hong Kong China SAR
Completion Year 2017
Project Size 6000 sq ft
Collaboration Jessica Lee (JLA Architecture Studio) and Kenneth Tam (KO-OP Design Studio)
The design brief for this dental clinic was to create a relaxing lounge-like experience for their dental patients that does not feel like the conventional dental practice interiors.
As the floor plan is very deep with windows located only on one side, the team was conscious in choosing a material and colour palette that is light-weight in order to bring in natural light to create a bright and airy environment. The space had a very low ceiling height, hence indirect lighting was carefully considered to help form a spacious feeling where natural light is lacking.
The clinic also offers paediatric dental treatments and we designed a children’s waiting room with fun graphics around the children clinic area. The playroom and vanity areas are designed specifically for younger patients to have a enjoyable dental check-up experience.
