The Armoury Store 3

New York City, USA    2014

Located in a pre-war building in New York City’s Tribeca area, The Armoury NYC houses three stories of ready to wear and bespoke menswear garments and accessories. Co-designed with my friend and colleague from Rhode Island School of Design, Greg Yang, we created a space that respected the heritage of the building as well as aligning with the brand’s identity. The existing brick wall, wood floors, a NYC manhole and vintage heat radiators were elements that we kept and integrated into the store alongside the signature wall to ceiling walnut cabinets with rolling ladders. Walking across the space under an array of coffer ceilings, a black metal staircase leads to the mezzanine level of the store housing bespoke shoes. Next to a row of changing rooms, stairs leading down to the basement opens into the back of house office, pantry, as well as a private VIP area connected to an open space for cigar breaks. We very much enjoyed designing this space, and if you have the pleasure of visiting the store, we hope you will enjoy the many small details that we put into it.
